Hegarty’s is a traditional family run farm which was originally established in 1870. It has been passed down from generation to generation and is currently being farmed by it’s sixth generation. The farm is located in whitechurch, just 15 minutes outside cork city.
When Dan Hegarty set out to make Hegarty’s cheddar in the early 2000’s, his ambition was to create a farmhouse chese that truly represents the quality of cork grass fed milk. More than 15 years later, we expanded our range of product but still making everything by hand. Our cheddar is made the traditional way, using cloth to cover the cheese during its long ripening process. We also produce a new gruyere style cheese called Templegall which is made from raw milk. We truly hope you will enjoy the taste of our cheeses!
