We are Deer Island Distillers - Jura’s first and only Rum company producing spiced rum in small batches in their distillery based in Craighouse. The name Jura or Diùra dates from the Norse-Gael era and means ‘deer island’. We are the island of Deer with an estimated 5000 of those to around 250 of us! Deer Island Rum is aged in ex-whisky casks and blended with our unique island water, juicy orange peel, dried fruit and a punchy spice blend. Our hand-bottled rum is inspired by this place we call home.
Jura native Michael and Jersey born Charlotte decided in 2019 that they wanted to make rum, delivering their first batch in May 2021.
