Worcesterberry
From the Currant family, yet similar to Gooseberry in appearance. Worcesterberry are very easy to grow and fairly disease resistant. As its quite a tough and thorny bush the Worcesterberry makes good stock proof hedging. A very prolific fruiting plant favoured by blackbirds so fruits will need some minding when ripening.
The berries are slightly tart yet sweeter than gooseberries, making great jam. The berries also freeze well and the bush is self-fertile so you only need one. Requires little maintenance. Tasty forage food and anti-oxidant garden bounty
Tolerant of some exposure and any well drained soil as long as it has a decent amount of sunshine hours. Fast growing plant to aprox 2m allround.
