A hot blooded blend from the steep mountainsides around Larouco in Valdeorras, Galicia.
Unapologetically unconventional, winemaker Nacho Gonzalez channels the storied winemaking history of the region in his small batch bottlings.
Quite a rustic wine for Nacho's standards but it retains the canon ball fruit and invigorating freshness that I love in his wines. Red fruits, nuts, cassis. Structured and earthy.
Producer: La Perdida(Nacho Gonzalez)
Region: Valdeorras, Galicia (Spain)
Grapes: Garnacha Tintorera, Mencia
Winemaking: A 5 day maceration on the skins. Then a gentle press, before fermentation and élevage in old wood barriques. It was bottle the following Spring. ABV 12.5%
*** If you haven't come across a wax seal on a bottle of wine before, I find it best to screw the opener in as normal, through the wax, and confidently pull the cork out as if the wax were not there.
