Shiitake mushrooms that have been grown on our farm, dried and enriched with Vitamin D " the "sunshine vitamin" by increasing the conversion of pro-vitamin D to Vitamin D2 by exposing them to sunlight. On analysis our super D shiitake mushrooms have 15 fold more vitamin D than those not exposed to sunlight.
Our Super D shiitake are a delicious way of acquiring an intake of vitamin D*, especially for vegetarians and vegans. Shiitake are also in rich in glycoproteins/ beta glucans which may have additional health benefits, and are rich in natural occurring glutamic acid "umami" amino acids and add delicious savoury flavour to any dish.
