Michael and Aisling Flanagan produce Velvet Cloud sheep’s milk, yogurt and cheese on their family farm in Co Mayo. They started their business in 2015 and had been growing steadily over the past five years. Up until Covid Velvet Cloud could be seen on the menus of the finest restaurants in Ireland, the business has lost a lot of sales since then, but is trying to fight back with initiatives like Neighbourfood. Velvet Cloud yogurt is made with the farms fresh sheep's milk and four LIVE yogurt cultures, it is ideal in cooking and suits many who are sensitive to cow dairy. Rockfield by Velvet Cloud sheep's cheese is a semi hard cheese with a natural rind which is matured for three months.
